Introduction:

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Kavre is a nonprofit institution. It is an appendage organization of SOS Children’s Village Nepal, which in turn is the Nepali Unit of SOS Kinderdorf International, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting destitute children in various ways.

Establishment:

This school was established in 1997. It started to operate informally from July 1998. The formal operation began after it was inaugurated by the then king Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev on 8 March 1999.

In its first formal academic session i.e. 1999/2000, the school had classes from Nursery up to the fifth standard. At present, it runs up to class twelve. Around 680 students have been studying here in the academic year 2019/2020.

       Location:

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Kavre is situated on the Banepa-Panauti Road at a place called Shreekhandapur of Panauti Municipality in the district of Kavre. This is about 28 km east of Kathmandu.
